interesting. i view the elements differently though. they are symbols of the parts of our actions. air represents what inspired us to act. fire is the action itself. water represents the reaction of everything around you. and earth represents what is finally produced. this is even reflected in the creation. air being when Goddess wanted to create. fire is Goddess giving birth to God. water being Goddesses desire for what she had created. earth being Goddess sending herself (the souls) into God.

The star upside down means diffrent things it can mean unblanced energy or right side up means goddess upside down means god. It all depends on the path that you follow.

From what i´ve read and understood. Pentagram pointing up is symbol you described here, commonly used in Wicca for instance. But Pentagram pointing down means a bit different thing. That way it represents individuality and that you need no "Divine being" to survive. Also it represents "Satan" but not as evil monster but rather an individual who went against God, you see, he went "to war" agains much more powerful being. So he(and the pentagram pointing down) represents rebellion aswell!
