Ingredients for Onigiri
7 pieces

360cc Rice for 7 Onigiri (1.52 u.s. cup)
**Molding rice when it is still warm makes it easy to form onigiri into a desired shape.

2 sheets of Toasted Nori

1 piece of Lightly-Salted Salmon

50g Sliced Beef Short Ribs (1.76 oz)
1 tsp Soy Sauce
1 tsp Sugar
Grated Ginger

1 leaf of Pickled Hiroshimana
Boiled and Dried Baby Sardines
Toasted White Sesame Seeds




Umeboshi - Pickled Plum
Okaka - Dried Bonito Flakes Moistened with Soy Sauce

Canned Tuna
Mayonnaise
Wasabi

Miso
Long Green Onion
Sake or Water

Soy Sauce

Salt Water
50ml Water (0.21 u.s. cup)
5g Salt (0.18 oz)

- Toppings -
Shiso Leaf
Parsley
Kinome - Young Leaves of Sansho Pepper

  • @dsrtpunk Just thought I'd add my two cents to maybe answer your question. It is my understanding that you need a certain kind of rice, informally called " sticky rice" to form the rice balls. Minute rice won't work (if your a minute rice person like me). And fillings can be anything you like, the fillings in the vid are just traditional to japanese rice balls. The seaweed wrap isn't necessary either, it just adds an aesthetic feel and to help keep your hands sticky rice free. Did that help?

  • I'm Hispanic and rice is a big staple diet...so my question is. Can I use regular white rice or other rice? And the fillings can be anything that complements rice and is the dryed seaweed wrap nessesary? Please answer in detail.
