Julian Peterson soars on tenor sax on this pretty ballad arranged for the Maynard Ferguson band by Willie Maiden. Julian was featured in a performance by the Puma Jazz Ensemble at Paradise Valley Community College on May 6, 2009.
Nice sax and a great chart. I was in a university jazz band 25 years ago (I'm a tenor player) and really wanted to play this arrangement but it wasn't available. So I transcribed it one summer and passed out parts to the band the following school year.
Ferdinand Povel plays this on Maynard's "Live At Jimmy's" album which is where this is from. It's a MUST have CD...phenominal playing and incredible arrangements.
This is absolutely GREAT .... I am so touched as a fellow musician ( who grew up to Big Band Music ... thx Dad R.I.P.)
