No offense, but European sirens may sound like carnival trains to American ears... and probably they think that ambulances in Holland sound like ice cream vans :P
For me it doesn't matter, here in Finland we have all kinds of sirens (hi-lo, wail, yelp - in my childhood I used to hear also British-type two-tone sirens :)).

No offense but I think those American sirens sound like their about to break-down (at the end of the tone)...
