  • How can sport divers dive there?

  • "How"? As you can see, the railing is very small.

  • Jeez, that is crazy! Can people swim in any part of it, or are they just pulled under?

  • There are legends that no one who has swum in this maelstrom his lived to tell the tale, bodies never found etc.

  • whoa sweet

  • @lugodoc:

Verne greatly exaggerated the Maelstrom's power. Never has a whirpool sucked a large ship into the sea.

  • How did the Nautilus get destroyed by that? It must have been bigger in Verne's day.

  • I want 2 jump in it!!!! But I'd b an idiot if I did that. But awesome !!!!

  • That is awesome! I'd love to go to Norway some day!

What exactly causes the current to be that strong there?

  • damn couldnt help jump in there accidentally

  • extremely intimidating , been to bodö a few times and too see these whirlpools is terrifying but extremely cool!

  • Yupp. It's normal to fish here. As stein said. I live nearby as well. And I've been there many times. Bodø Norway
