Dude you need to use potassium hydroxide instead of sodium hydroxide because its almost 4 x more conductive witch means less solution and more hho.

k. i know this is kinda a dumb question, but that blue thing is using thermodinamics to cool down the water in the fuel cell right?

Thanks for the response. I used plastic tie straps to space them so it's about 3mm of space. It does get real hot and steam would explain my lack of fuel economy. Thanks for your input. It looks like your response was cut off. Thanks again.

The neutral plates are for cutting down the voltage per plate gap , the best voltage per plate gap would be in between 2.0 - 2.5 volts..anything over this creates excess heat.. if you are running +-+-+- you are getting around 6volts per plate gap ,and that will make your unit overheat, and create alot of steam instead gas.How much space do you have between the plates? And also if you are using sea salt you are chlorine gas to..

Hi, I have a cell I made and I used 2"X1/8" ss flatbar cut 12" long. I used 5 of these plates and made them +-+-+. I don't know how much current it draws but it's between 10 and 40 amps for sure. I burnt a 30 amp relay that worked for a while. I now have a 40 amp relay and it is still good. I use demin water with sea salt. I still get alot of rust in the bottom and it don't seem to save me any fuel. What are the neutral plates for and can you coment on mine? Thank you.

also lol one more not on the lye I have 2 cells a 31 plate 6x6 and a 16 plate 6x6...The most lye I have ever used to a whole gallon of distilled water is 2 teaspoons , and that gave me a 28 - 30 amp draw on my 31 plate cell ...just trying to help
Theres nothing like building your first dry cell.
It is mesmerizing once you get it running. :)
Good use of inexpensive materials.
Nice Cell. Good video.

Thanks Luther. I still have a ways to go but I think I'm getting the hang of it.

thats a lot of lye , if you build your cell with a 1/16" gap between the plates and add some more plates and do only 4 neutrals ,something like this +NNNN-NNNN+ it would only take 1 1/2 teaspoons of lye per gallon of water and you can get a 17 - 24 amp draw with that setup..

I will most definately give this a try, thanks!

Just as soon as I can finish up some sketches, I'll post another video showing a break down of the cell itself. I will also post a PDF of the sketches for those interested in the generator.
