The Rocky Mountain Railroad Club opens their archives to show you the works of Otto Perry, noted rail photographer of the Rocky Mountain Region. Enjoy long gone Santa Fe passenger trains pulled by mighty steam locomotives and classic diesel types including an Santa Fe-1, FTs, F3s, & PA-2s. All of these diesels are in Warbonnet colors. The Super Chief, the Chief, the El Capitan, the Scout, the Grand Canyon, and the Centennial State trains are featured. Giant wartime 2-8-8-2 steam locomotives are seen in rare scenes on Raton Pass. There's also plenty of classic Santa Fe steam and diesel locomotives powering freight trains to watch and enjoy.

  • coaches on flatcars. i have seen everything

  • otto perry from railroads east and west steam locomotives and diesel locomotives and electric locomotives

  • Thank god! All that steam locomotive equipment was chopped up & sent to the foundry for melting!

Junk all the remaining steam locomotives!

  • Looked it up, and the "Blue Goose" was a streamlined 3460 class 4-6-4 hudson, and the 3461 set a world record for a steam engine with a 2227 mile run from LA to Chicago without maintence (only fuel). It's train was a fast mail express.

  • the sounds are all dubbed

  • Pause at 4:11, the number looks like 5028.

  • Without Otto Perry there would be a huge hole in the railroad history files.....nice job on this one.....................Cheers.......El Fat Boy Texcino

  • If i'm not mistaken, 2910 was a member of the 2900 class of locomotives built by baldwin.

  • i love 2910's whistle at 4:29

  • People took along a reel to reel tape recorder when filming back then. The sound is in fact dubbed now in but that was the only way to have sound and picture.
