Hey I'm thinking of doing this piece this year and wanted a recomendation on what kind of mallets to use...what did you choose??

I played with bogdan bacanu signature series mallets by adams. If you ask me i would use medium hard mallets but not too hard because of middle slow section and because if they are to hard you hear to much individual notes. The mellody should come out everything else should me smooth.

amazing video but (i think I told one of your friends this also... lol) try using double lateral rolls, much better sound then just block ones

double lateral rolls = 1,2,4,3

I don't get why he has to serve up his piece in a CERTAIN tempo and speed.

Shouldnt he be able to just do it however he wants?

He's the one playing it and obviously feeling it while doing so... shouldnt HE be the one who decides how it's channeled to us or in what speed?

im way late on this, but i understand there should be some fluctuation in the tempo but the swtich between the opening statement (taken much faster than the written tempo) and the 2nd part (taken much much slower than the actual tempo) is alot bigger imo than it should be

Bro, a song is written out for us to read it, and how it's SUPPOSED sound. We are all free to make the changes in tempo and the feel if ever we prefer it.. it's really sick.

The piece doesn't call for a crazy fast opening, and a slow as fuck rest of the piece.

It's a constant speed.

If he stayed at the same speed, I wouldn't have a problem with it.

I don't understand why people play the beginning insanely fast, then slow WAY down for the triplets.

I'm looking at the music right now, and I don't see it saying "Blaze through the beginning like a maniac" and I don't see "Slow down A LOT because this part's really hard!" at measure 12.

wow very well played. and i agree, permutations would be better to use then double laterals but to most people they can be pretty difficult. very well played my friend. also im jealous of your marimba lol
