Energy on an Elementalist in GW1 was terrible, it had a massive energy pool, but if you use it up your standing around waiting for a minute or more.

This video is really starting to piss me off (no offence WP). All I did was give my initial opinions on the topic discussed. Of course it would be wrong, I haven't experienced the game properly to give a proper verdict on something. And anyhow I don't think I would be spending much more time gaming. IRL problems mean I have higher priorities. I shall have to experience it through WP's future GW2 let's play. I hope I get to see gameplay from all the races/classes. GL on getting into the beta!

Theres are plenty of skills that buff/regen energy and theres cooking crafting skill that allows you to make things like potions
-
It actually hurts me when you speak.....ok now potions in other games have a cd, this isn't a cash sink, it's a choice....i'm not rich because i manage my gold or credits well in game, i'm just not "special" if i choose to use potions it wont fix me being too small a level, other games use potions usually once per fight MAX. .........Why do you feel the need to lie about how mechanics are used? What does this serve? stop telling us why old is bad, and show us what's good about the new you moron.
-
@mahius19 You first point is actually pretty intellectually bankrupt. The game is being designed not to include it now thus it will be balanced to make up for that using CD as well as the actual abilities limits. It is like you saw this and assumed the developers are retarded and are just going to do what every other mmo has done instead of designing a better combat system in general.
-
@PiinoyTuber Every class has 3 dedicated healing spells to choose from, all having different effects depending on which profession you are. I'm not sure if race also affects your healing abilities. Aso swapping to the water attunement as an elementalist, will provide you with some healing abilities depending on your weapon choice. I believe some guardian skills also have the ability to heal allies.
-
hey so how do u heal in the game?
-
Arena net is the same company that released fucking guild wars. A shiny turd. looks like they havent learned from their tired mistakes. they should have charged a subscription and actually create some end game content. This will be another hype up turd that fails.
-
@Surfswith1handfaping Anet may know what they're doing by learning from their mistakes?
-
I love when people say "Anet knows what they are doing". If I'm not mistaken these are the same people who released Shadow Form, let people solo perma-rape dungeons and everything else. Farm stacks of ectos and still had to nerf it 4~5 times.
-
Durability will most likely be in the final build of the game. And like potato said, it's not something I'm too excited about, however at this point, I trust that Anet knows what they are doing, and if they think it's a good idea, than I'm inclined to check it out and trust them onit.

i wanna play as a ratman they are soooo cute :)))) 2;13
-
@Paaraadox Dem Voices. Other ones can be good, but you need a voice for it, also you need to be able to critically think and analyze an argument or theory in terms of logic and math.
-
Why are all the best gamer-channels british? :P
-
Okay, I've played "Dark Souls" and that SERIOUSLY looks like the final boss!!!
-
gw2 will have a durability system. each time you die one of your pieces of gear gets damaged and you cant take it off. once all 6 have been damaged, you lose the stat bonus and you have to get them repaired
-
@mahius19 Well look at wow, by the time the game got to wotlk i dont think i ever saw anyone run out of mana in 2 years.
the game is so easy and caters to them so badly it gives them infinite mana regen crap.
and whilst the game is pretty unbalanced it works and is only really unbalanced because blizzard are corrupt and retarded, so obviously AN are gonna do epic.
-
@Demonbane41276 Yeah, 5 weapon skills, 5 utility skills, plus set of 5 for off set weapons, plus first five change for some classes when they use their class abilities or utility skills (engineer's flamethrower swaps the weapon skills, every element for elementalist casts different spells for same weapon sets, thief steals weapons and gains new abilities and so on) Plenty of skills in game for the cooldown mechanic to limit and challenge players properly.
-
So what are your thoughts are on the current armor-breaking mechanic?
-
I think everything could be managable w/ cds if you have enuff skills...by the action bar i am only seeing 10 and i believe Anet said 5 were for damaging effects and 5 were for utility...we'll just have to see I guess.
-
@TheRandomGuyNextDoor theres only energy for ur dodge, and it recharges fairly quickly. slow enough so u cant dodge 10 times in a row but fast enough so u can when u really need to. theres NO potions anymore. at all.
JFC! I'm just putting down my opinion about this energy thing. I'm not dissing the game! GW2 is an awesome game. I don't know what its like with no energy, so I try to make comparisons that are close. I'm not stating that these comparisons are 100% accurate. As I said in my first comment. I'll just have to play the game myself to make a final verdict (opinion) on this. Sorry for all this crap I've created on the comments of your video WP.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
0:27 REMOVED ENERGY ALTOGETHER!?!?! THIS IS MADNESS!?!? SKILLS WILL BE INFINTELY SPAMMABLE AND WE'LL BE OP!
3:45 Only cooldowns? But imagine GW1 with no energy and only cooldowns. Things would still be spammable, like meteor or the nuke skills (energy storage was primary att of eles).
At least there will be less numbers to compute when putting together a build. I'll just have to play the game for myself and experience it 1st person for a final verdict. They removed lots of early ideas from GW2.

@mahius19
Thing is, Gw1 was deisnged with energy in mind and Gw2 is designed without it. You can't draw the comparison of simply removing it from the previous game. They're too different.
