Fantastic! It's been proven again and again, in every industry and every country: some companies do things the "right" way, and other companies abuse people, animals, the environment, etc. Foie gras production can be as humane as beef, poultry, or any other animal product. It shouldn't be criminalized, and it shouldn't be targeted by the hate-mongers at PETA or the SPCA.

He shows one farm, that makes foie gras like this, which I still dont think is justified, and then everyone does it like this?

We constantly see how horrible people are to animals. Showing me this isnt gonna change anything. It might for an ignorant person.

anthony bourdain you are an idiot....foie gras is cruel ....just because u saw a farm here in the states doesnt mean they dont treat them cruel in othwer places...what about when they are still concious from lifting their heads over the electric bath...the farmers puncure a hole in the birds throat and lets it bleed out up side down while it is trying to fly away...i love meat and love to eat meat but will not eat something that is diseased...and that is what it is a diseased liver...

Ok, I am not talkin about depriving hungry people of food. I am sure starving Somalians would prefer the discarded (i.e. wasted) carcass of the goose as opposed to it's swollen liver anyway. Maybe your initial post wasn't addressing me personally, but I was only stating that an animal raised for food consumption should not be deprived of a decent and humane existance prior to it's demise. What is the problem witrh that? Thank you.

I totally agree with you. I also think that all meat production should have stricter regulations and oversight. I would just hate to see foie gras banned....it's just too good! I think it can be harvested humanely, but should require strict regulation and oversight as any market commodity involving the use of living creatures should. You wouldn't believe the crap they still legally do to Macaques and Chimps in this country. Peace be with you and our delicious, critter brothers. :)
