  • i have a windows vista nad i recently had a message when i started my computer saying hard disc failure imminent but it dosent make sense there is no virus, worm, trojan in my computer its in good condition however this did happen during a severe thunder storm when the power went out for about 5 seconds then came back on and i know this can have an affect on machines but i have a surge protector so nothing should have happend oh and my computer is not a laptop its a tower/desktop what ever u prfer

  • @TheMohguy: This is your hard drive telling you it will die soon. Like every thing else it has it's time to die too.

  • Wonder what total number of people watched this video for the entire 21 minutes...?

  • or maybe its an intel problem lol. sorry couldnt resist, i like amd. currently running

amd phenom II x4 970 stock speed 3.5 ghz, overclocked to 4.2 on water, 24/7 stable. Those new sandy bridge intel i5 and i7 can overclock to 5 ghz from a stock speed of 3.2 to 3.3. Maybe I should have went intel this time around

  • @inboundnewt: Not sure what you will do when AMD can not put out a good CPU any more? You could upgrade to a Cyrix 6x86...

  • nice vid, as far as hd monitoring goes i use crystaldiskinfo its a free program online and gives hd temps and sectors. your intel i7 920 is on a 1366 socket with the x58 chipset that chipset as far as I know does not support using a 3tb hard drive as a boot drive. Thats why whn you back to using a 1tb boot it worked fine. Also a green drive for boot? 5400rpm slow. If you can, jump to at least a wd black harddrive for boot. Do what i did and go solid state drive for boot 120gb patriot wildfire.

  • @inboundnewt: The Plan was to run two 3TB Barracuds in the computer...As we know that plan failed. If you look you might see the 1 - 3TB and the 2- 3TB drives in the video. The 3 WD Greens plus the 2nd Segate 1TB drive in the computer were going into the New NAS backup system. I pulled the Three WD 1TB Greens from the NAS and used them to restore my system. So yes I plan on putting somthing faster back into the i7, but for now it works and have not lost any of my DATA.

  • Did I understand you to say there was 950 gb of data on that 1 tb hdd? If, so, you should lose about 250 gb of data. Your hdd will run better, and Windows will be happier. I've learned to use about 75% of a drive's capacity, and do disk cleans and defrags religiously. Just my opinion.

  • Hard drive failure is imminent! ALL HANDS BRACE FOR IMPACT!!!!

  • @IMRROcom hola... same problem with me. i just bought a portable hard disk . same problem and backup fail.

  • I had the same problem with my WD Scorpio Blue hard drive that came with my HP Laptop. I got a SATA to USB adapter for about 25 USD. I hooked up the faulty hard drive to another computer and I was able to recover my data. Then I just got a new hard drive for the laptop. Something tells me HP is using sub-par components in their machines. Most of these "Hard disk failure is imminent" problems seem to come from HP/Compaq machines.

  • your pc need a UEFI bios to boot from a full 3tb partition, without it, u can only boot 2TB max partitions. now u can make a 1tb and a 2 tb partition seperatly, but u cant boot from 3 full tb withouit a newer mb with uefi

  • and the hdd size is 1tb..

  • seagate, back up your data, the reallocated sectors count is way beyond normal.. the SMART failure measns one of the attributes is out of wack meaning the hdd will fail.

  • Ahah same exact thing happened to me! Similar hard drive, too. WD Caviar Green 1TB. Coincidence, I have the same monitor. LG Flatron E2360 23". Anyways, its definitely not fun seeing all your work disappear like that. My solution was simple, I used Norton Ghost to copy the disk to my external 500GB HDD (only 300GB of my 1TB used). I tested it on a spare disk and it worked fine, however, I might as well buy myself an SSD for Christmas. Last HDD I'm using...
