HOW TO DEACTIVATE A HIJACK VIRUS

If you can't figure out how to remove it, you can do a non-destructive restore with a backup partition. All your files will be safe in the backup. Just don't use the backup to restore settings and programs, as malware and minor bugs can re-infect that way. Once the malware is safely isolated in the partition, run a virus scan on all drives. It will identify a non-active version of the virus and quarantine it. I've done this several times now.

@Tonetare (continued) because others have reported the same scenario as I in which the internet shuts out and certain methods to removing the viruses are locked out. I have special antivirus software which removed it though.

Something tells me they're in on it because it only started to happen once they shut down the site for a period of time. Whatever the case, I made 100% sure everyone and there neighbor is alert to it by writing it not only here, which is one of the first webpages that comes up when "Xtube" is googled, but also at wikipedia. As for you not getting the virus, you must have clicked out of it in time

Stay away from xtube. The site is currently infecting people with viruses as of February 2011. My computer got infecting but I got rid of it as I have a special system. Some kind of Java page comes up when you try to view videos.
