International Friendship Day
The Rotary Family of Dombivli invites you with Family & Friends to celebrate International Day of Friendship at 10 AM on Sunday, 7th Aug. 2011 at the Dombivli Gymkhana Hall, MIDC, Dombivli (E).
Friends we all know The United States dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima on 6 Aug 1945. According to Encyclopedia Britannica, officials estimate that about 140,000 people were killed instantly or died within a few months in the city of Hiroshima, whichthen had a population of about 350,000. Three days later on 9th August,a plutonium bomb was dropped on the city of Nagasaki, killing about 80,000 people.
We have a small video presentation on this deadly NuclearWarfare which will be followed by a talk on "Manashanti te Vishwashanti" (InnerPeace to World Peace) by a renowned orator, Dr. Sanjay Upadhye.
Presently Dr. Sanjay Upadhye works as an advisor to MIT School of Government and as an executive Director for Vishwa Shanti Sangh forWorld Operations, an activity under World Peace Centre, Alandi, A UNESCO chair.
As our current year Rotary theme says, "Reach within to Embrace Humanity", one needs to be in mentally & spiritually peaceful state of mind. World peace begins with inner peace, tolerance and compassion. Once people develop compassion -- mercy and forgiveness -- more meaningful dialoguecan take place which will ultimately lead to a less violent world.
