This is a video demonstration of solder removal from an XBOX 360 motherboard with the 21mm spatula tip. Using this wide tip cuts down the cleaning time from about 9 minutes (in my other video) to about 4 minutes.

  • what kind (brands and type) of lead solder and desoldering braid do you use?

  • @thedonClk01, the brand of lead solder doesn't matter. Just make sure you use one that is 63Sn37Pb (63% tin, 37% lead). The desoldering braid I am using is SuperBraid (Chemwick). Easy Braid is better, smoother so I recommend that instead.

  • i bought the csi 2900 and got the 15mm spatula tip it works great as easy as in your video HOWEVER the tip got dirty right away and started to degrade in about 2 wks making it unusable

i do clean and tin my tips

does your hakko tip still look new?

  • @xboxhaxorz, the Hakko tip still looks like new. Sometimes I soak it in IPA overnight if I get really stubborn flux residue.

  • Who can i buy this Spatula Tip ?

Have you please a internet link to buy this one ?

    thanks for your Answer :)

  • @X0X360, I bought the spatula tip from hakkousa .com. It only works for certain soldering stations though.

  • @X0X360, the spatula tip is only available on the higher end soldering stations. You can't get this tip with the iron on the 968. The soldering station is a Hakko FX-951 (don't buy from China, guaranteed 100% fake).

  • Damn man i'm jealous. That tip is bad ass!!

  • My Aoyue has been working pretty dang good for me. I really like the smoke absorber feature. It's also a rework station. What's the big difference other than features. Ya gotto start somewhere.

  • @Th3mast3r69: I wasn't referring to your rework station. I was talking about the soldering station. There's a difference. My soldering station is the Hakko FX-951. The cheaper ones just don't support spatula tips (they don't make them).
