Harvest drummer Kenny Buttrey was fired from the touring band halfway through the tour after demanding a pay raise. None of his performances made the album. Also, Neil's voice got progressively worse during the tour, so David Crosby & Graham Nash came in to help out during the electric sets of the last 20 shows of the 63 show tour.

This album marks the beginning of Neil's "dark period", which was in part triggered by the drug-related death of Danny Whitten during rehearsals for this tour. The "dark period" continues through to Zuma with a few other songs of this period appearing on American Stars & Bars and a couple more on Hawks & Doves.

  • My all-time favorite NY album. (I've said that a few time before.) Last Dance -The Bridge- Journey though the Past -

Memories of riding my bike down to Licorice Pizza with my friends to get On The Beach and Zuma when they came out. Fuck, those were the days! Chicks, parties, surfing, concerts!

  • Comes a Time came out in '78.
