I remember my mother cying over this, a memory forever engrained. (fast foward to today... how many americans will weep over G.W's passing? )

@brianallancobb Yes, it was Jackie who told him to do so. If you see footage of that moment you'll notice how she takes something away from his hands and whispers something in his ear before he salutes his father's casket. A lot of people think it was spontaneous (that's the reason why, I think, this picture has become such an iconic one) but it wasn't. It's still beautiful and powerful, but yeah: it was staged.

Thank you. It's still poignant. It was still staged.

@brianallancobb I kind of feel like that too once I read about this being something that was done a certain way by her planning it.

@Freestyleartclub There are people even older than that! A recently former president graduated high school before that point (Bill clinton) I am alot younger than that! I was born in 1980;.

@quetzalamaru On June 4, 1963, a little known attempt was made to strip the Federal Reserve Bank of its power to loan money to the government at interest. On that day President John F. Kennedy signed Executive Order No. 11110 that returned to the U.S. government the power to issue currency, without going through the Federal Reserve. With the stroke of a pen, Mr. Kennedy was on his way to putting the Federal Reserve Bank out of business.
Bankers killed him. Link: watch?v=m1pnfpZbspI

On November 22, 1963, I was five years old. I remember seeing the Funeral on T.V. I did not quite get it....the significance of what happened. Obviously, now I do. God bless all the Kennedy's...!
