  • Daytonaaaaa! Daytonaaaaa! We're goin' away. (We're goin' away)

  • There are plenty of closed cars at Le Mans.

  • ok folks i love Lemans. but seriously? you dont think daytona is the craziest 24 hr race with p cars? i mean its got banked corners! i know i know its not that special anymore, but think wasnt that one of most ppls problems with modern racing? they got rid of the uniqueness of the tracks and cars... all im saying is its pretty cool when you think about it, to see a d.p. on the banking at daytona when its not softly sprung like a stock car but stiff like an open wheeler. alms to DAYTONA!!! unite!

  • I was at the race taking photos this year, had a blast!

  • yea i agree, those daytona prototypes are kinda ugly compared to lmp's. daytona does get a really good turn out and it's not an invitational so it good in that way but le mans is le mans, and the only 24 hour that could out do it is is nurburgring had prototypes and all the factory runners, but they dont for safety- still an epic race

  • I was working Turn 3 (International Horseshoe)

  • I agree, a very fitting intro to a most-prestigious race!

So cool you worked at this race, HLM! Where were you stationed on the track?

  • Daytona has decent nightime running, something Le Mans is missing. Plus Le Mans has the crappy opentop cars. Sportscars are supposed to be closed top!

  • Very nicely done intro by Varsha. I was working at the event as a SCCA corner worker, and it was just amazing to be there in person

  • yes there is the "largest" 24 hour event in the world, with about 200-250 cars each year on the combined Grand-Prix and Nordschleife course, with more than 200.000 spectators on the track.

In addition to this, there are the VLN series races, with the same cars.

There are no Prototypes allowed, because that would really be dangerous, but there is a great variety of racecars, going from GTs like 911 RSR and Viper, to small TC cars, like Honda Accord and Mini Cooper in various classes.
