http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3Zsvml57PE is a video describing how to learn more about the Mormon Church.

The following is a testimony of John Taylor, who was the 3rd Mormon prophet and president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Church):

"When I first heard the Gospel, I was compelled to admit there was something reasonable about it. I almost hoped it was not true. If it is true, said I, as an honest man, I shall be obliged to obey it or else I cannot have any confidence in myself. When I had investigated the subject and became convinced that it was true, I said "I am in for it. I must embrace it. I cannot reject the principles of eternal truth."

I was ready to obey it and I am today. Well, says one, you believe the Bible? Yes. You believe in the Book of Mormon? Yes. You believe the Book of Doctrine and Covenants? Yes. I believe all that God has ever written or spoken, everything that we have on record, and I am prepared to believe everything that He will communicate to the human family. We profess to believe in all truth and to be governed by all truth."

  • RD1999 there is absolutely no proof that dinosaurs ever lived on this earth. just because we have their bones does not mean they lived on this earth. when jesus created this earth he took parts of other earths and planets to make it. so booya. no proof whatsoever that dinos lived on this earth.

  • I love this testimony of John Taylor. Exceptional.

  • My apologies if I forgot to respond to your PM. I did look into it. Admittedly, I didn't spend more than an hour or so studying it because it's pretty far down on the list of things I want to study. We all have different interests and appetites, so I hope that doesn't offend you.

Because this interests you, I'll PM you links to two articles that have been written about this specific subject. If anyone feels this is a pressing issue, feel free to contact me for the same links.

  • There is no official position of the Church on the subject you're referring to. As the Bible Dictionary does not elaborate more on the context, I can't give you more information than that.

  • [As for the] "Joseph Smith Translation items, the chapter headings, Topical Guide, Bible Dictionary, footnotes, the Gazeteer, and the maps. None of these are perfect; they do not of themselves determine doctrine; there have been and undoubtedly now are mistakes in them. Cross-references, for instance, do not establish and never were intended to prove that parallel passages so much as pertain to the same subject. They are aids and helps only."

  • Again, I think it's important to understand the Bible Dictionary. As fairlds*org points out, "The Bible Dictionary is neither infallible, nor an arbiter of Church doctrine." Elder Bruce R. McConkie who was the Editor of the Bible Dictionary said the following:

  • lds9999

You and I have been down this road before in PM last year, Your last message said you would study it out. Unfortunately I never heard anything other than your recommendation to try other blogs.

This is where the Gospel starts to unravel the Atonement is attached to death and the TRUE facts don't support your doctrine.

  • In the Mormon version of the KJB in the Bible Dictionary under "death" it says

"Latter-day revelation teaches that there was no death on this earth for any forms of life before the fall of Adam. Indeed, death entered the world as a direct result of the fall"

Dinosaurs lived and died on this earth long before the fall of Adam. Is this revelation incorrect?

  • Nevertheless, when you were referring to "The Mormon Bible", were you referring to the KJV version of the Bible that we use or the Book of Mormon?

It sounded like you were referring to the "Book of Mormon" and therefore, the statement was not accurate.

  • We have the King James Bible. In the back of it, there are a few resources for study. One if a Topical Guide. For example, you can look up "Miracles" and it will direct you to the scriptures in the Bible that pertain to miracles. In addition, there is "The Bible Dictionary." Here, you can look up a name of a person, place, event, etc. that is found in the Bible and it will give background information on it.
