Macs voids warranty of people that smoke. You can buy thier product, just don't expect them to fix it "when" it breaks

No, they only do that when they see smoke damage on your mac, (they will fix it if it breaks for reasons other then water damage, dropping it or any other reason that's your complete fault.) And apple products last longer then Microsoft's in mine and many others experience

And so they should. Smoking is a disgusting habit. I bet wont be long before other manufacturers follow Apple's initiative.

Employers are duty bound by law to protect their staff from the harmful effects of second-hand tobacco smoke. Which includes the sticky brown toxic tobacco residue very often found inside a smoker's computer.

See "World Health Organization Framework Convention on Tobacco Control" Article 8.

This is extremist paranoia. Since Steve Jobs has cancer hes now over reacting. Whats next? They going void warrantee or people with Chinese drywall in their homes? Or people that live next to power lines? Or toxic waste dumps? Is there a single reported case of someone getting cancer from tar residue inside the computer case of someone that smokes? Other manufactures following suit? What super lube going to refuse to change my oil because I smoke in my car? You people are freaking crazy

Have you ever had to open up a heavy smoker's computer? All that brown residue with sticks to everything. Would I expect employees to have to deal with it and clean it without protective gear, like rubber gloves and masks? No I would not.

Tobacco residue stops fans working, blocks ventilation, etc. And if tobacco residue has caused a fault, such as a stuck fan. Don't you think its only fair that the smoker should to pay for the repairs? The warranty only covers manufacturing defects.

As I understand it, Apple refused to do the repairs merely because the owner smoked. The cause of the computer problem was not determined. Now if Apple wants to void warrantee of people that smoke, shouldn't they tell them this before they purchase Macs? "warning smoking will void your warranty" ?

Maybe they should. Smoking near a computer is always a bad idea anyway, because of what it does to the computer.

BTW there has been a situation where a person was refused telephone service. Because that person could not guarantee a smoke free environment for the engineer in their house. The person was smoking and the engineer walked out on the job.

...continued. Yes Superlube could indeed refuse to deal with your car because it stinks of cigarette smoke. In fact they could charge you extra for providing hazmat gear for their staff.
