A review of the AT&T Navigator app for the iPhone 3G and 3GS. This is a turn by turn GPS navigation service, where the app is free and AT&T charges you $9.99 a month. The app works as advertised with no frills and a couple issues. The biggest advantage of the subscription service is there are no big maps to download and keep on your phone, you always have current maps, and can subscribe only when needed.

  • What does happen when you lose cell service? can someone get back to me?

    I'm thinking about this..

  • No mobile data, no maps. I think it's best a budget solution for infrequent usage. If you're going to pay $120 a year, you can probably get more for your money. With the current release, I'm not terrible impressed with NAVIGON. I just got G-MAP to try out. I hope to get the full review of NAVIGON up this week, G-MAP in the next couple weeks.

  • One potential problem you forgot to mention. When in the car people will have to hold the phone in there hand as they drive, and that could be an issue in terms of your attention being taken off the road. The GPS needs to be mounted on the windshield. This will allow people to drive and glance at the GPS when needed, and not worry about looking away from traffic.

  • it be hot if it had a truck route

  • See I'm about to go to a new University and I wanted to get navigator so I could find my way around the campus. I want to have the ability to label certain buildings on the actual GPS so that I can know where I'm going when my schedule says go to such and such building I suppose from this review that is not possible?

  • No signal for the first couple minutes of the video. Nice. And since the app relies on signal/internet for data, i'm not worried at all

  • I'm disappointed that they are not integrating a real GPS into the phones instead of using Cellphone Tower Triangulation and misleading the consumers by calling it GPS. There is no monthly fee on real GPS. If you go hiking in the mountains or woods and there is no cell phone signal, "fake" GPS on cell phones won't work. I would like to see if anybody has compared accuracy between a cell phone with "fake GPS" and a "real GPS" hand held like a Garmin eTrex or a Magellan Triton 300.

  • Is it possible to hook up a double aux phone cord if thats what you even call it to the aux jack in the car to increase the volume. Its works with my ipod. Havent gotten the iphone yet but cant wait !!!!

  • looks like sprints navigator

  • Hows the tomtom app

  • for sound use a aux cable (if your car dont have one) its time for an upgrade not anything serious tho just makes a big diff

  • I use this app all the time on my sony phone. I have never lost cell service though... but it uses the gps unit in your phone... But occasionally it connects to the internet to update the map as you move. so i would imagine it'd be unavailable and it couldnt help you anymore.
