Newton, in the gaslight era of astronomy, wisely proposed no mechanism for the action of gravitation. He explained the effect without ever declaring the cause. In the twenty-first century we understand that gravitation is largely if not wholly an electromagnetic phenomenon, like virtually all "forces" in the universe and all aspects of science, they can all be fundamentally described and pursued using electromagnetic force models.
@fertilizerspike Look, i agree with that. But, my point is that there is no way for us, in our limited capacity, to create a model of reality which does not make unprovable metaphysical claims. I see spacetime as the most parsimonious explanation and you do not. I am curious as to what you think is a better model?

@fertilizerspike No, because reality for us is what we say. Not what you think, that doesn't make any sense. AND we have reality supporting us.

@IamBread18
It's reality you disagree with, not me.

@fertilizerspike Well obviously it's not "obvious on its face" as me, along with millions of other people disagree with you.

@IamBread18
I don't need anything to "back it up with", it's obvious on its face.

@fertilizerspike You say that a lot, yet you still don't have anything to back it up with.
