A random sample of 21 people are interviewed on the main street of Canterbury, England, about Bishop Gene Robinson. They were shown a picture of him, and asked if they knew who it was. They were then asked a variety of questions-- what did they think about a bishop who was gay? Did they think it was right or wrong to exclude him from the Lambeth Conference. Approximately 65% guessed that the photo was of the Archbishop of Canterbury. All had heard of Bp. Robinson. 76% were in favor of gay bishops; 86% felt that Bp. Robinson should have been invited to the Lambeth Conference.
The English people seem a lot more accepting of differences...some years back I guess they called it "eccentricity" or something like that.
