medieval feira festival silves portugal 2011 music

One of the highlights of our holiday to the Allgarve in Portugal this August was the Feira Medieval in Silves. The festival is held every year in August for 8 days. It is magical, mystical, original and leads you back into customs of medieval times. The whole town underneath the castle transforms into medieval stalls, costumes, food markets & singing and dancing traditions. Every night from 6pm until 1am you can experience long past medieval times ending with an enormous firework display every night. It is a multicultural event and celebrates the Moorish influence of the region with traders attending as far as from Morocco.
