Avalons - You Broke Our Hearts - Rare Mid-Tempo Bronx Doo Wop

Very rare track from Zell Sanders' Dice label. I wonder if there was involvement with the Clickettes and/or Johnnielouise Richardson. Johnnie wrote the song, and it sounds to me like she could be doing that top tenor part.

I was just looking at the label -- that drawing at the top has a surreal feeling -- and I noticed that the word "BY" is exactly the same font and size and on the same line as the group's name. I don't think I've ever seen that before.

I never understood why they chose such a small font for Dice Records. I would think you would want brand recognition. They eventually figured this out, and 2nd pressings of Dice material have DICE in large letters with the hand next to it. I got a kick out of the "BY THE" as well. The flip side just says "The Avalons", but there's a young kid singing lead. Maybe they wanted to differentiate that this is only The Avalons?

@PJDooWop Yeah, I've seen the word "DICE" bigger. The little lettering is part of what makes it weird. It would have been wonderful if they simply had the drawing with the hand and the dice and nothing else.
