May I recommend Harpo marx's autobiography, "Harpo Speaks" in which he relates two humorous Schoenberg stories, one of which involved a violin case full of ping pong paddles and balls. "One can never tell where one might find a table." another described Schoenberg's first meeting with Irving Thalberg.
