CONTROL UNIT
1993 Scania 93M
Registered K385DOO
---
This vehicle typically responds to fires/incidents with 6 or more pumps in attendance, and is a 'command post' from which senior officers can control the incident, and have computer and radio technology fitted to allow them to do this, including a number of television screens for viewing footage or CCTV of the ongoing situation. Senior officers also often need to communicate via landlines and mobile telephones as well as send and receive information via CCTV. The equipment inside the Control Unit facilitates this.
There are also two large whiteboards in the main control room. One is blank entitled Fire Plan, which is used for general notes on the situation, the other is a grid entitled Incident Board where officers can keep track of appliances and crews in attendance, as well as those due for relief, and additional equipment requested or in use, e.g. gastight suits, foam, radiation equipment etc.
There is also a smaller area containing general equipment such as signs used for cordoning off the fireground.
