  • OK, Otway is soon to be 60 or so I'm told!

He's been on Buzzcocks twice, once in the line up and once on the team.......isn't it about time he presented the show??

Oh, He needs a 3rd hit to go with it too!

    "ooz a lucky birthday boy?"

  • @shirtcreek Yes, he must be nearly 60 now _ i'm sure he has a plan

  • @academyofrock ....thank God for that, I thought it was only me getting old!

It has to happen though if there is any REAL Justice in the World.

Hang on though, you said "Otway has a plan".....die he ever? lol

  • @shirtcreek I know something of Otway's plans - I laid down £40K to help launch his plane but it never took off literally or metaphorically - great act, nice guy, but don't lend him your money lol :-)

  • @academyofrock Yes I remember you saying that before, shame though it would have been great to see it happen. I did buy him a pint at Warsop on my birthday last May but I did get an autograph and a request and I also have a signed white shirt minus the buttons so I guess at the moment I'm up on the deal?

But yes, a great guy and an even greater Star.

Can you keep us posted please as to his plans, I'd love to be there in His BIG day.

My minute of fame! (it was supposed to be 20 secs of fame,so I mustn't grumble! )

  • @JimHalo

I was at the Reading festival and remember John not getting down from the scaffolding in time, leaving a big gap for guitar solo.

  • I'll never forget John and Willie on Top of the Pops when I was a schoolkid. TOTP was such a dire, crappy, vile piece of sugary garbage playing dire, vile crappy pop music, it was watched out of habit. Those two totally brightened up my evening. It's good to see they're still going.

  • Peter it's a small world.I was the guitarist with Otway right after Wild Willie and used a Yamaha SG for the job.(I used a 1952 Les Paul until Otway grabbed it and climbed up the scaffolding at the Reading festival!Right,I thought, better bring a different guitar from now on!)

Be Bop Deluxe,John Otway,Yamaha SG,sharing a name with a famous comedian! Our paths cross in a spooky way!(apart from the name bit.)

  • In the US you've got the inimitable Legendary Stardust Cowboy. In England we have the inimitable John Otway. Carve his name with pride. Genius.
