  • I just found out who Johann Hari is, and he's earned my utmost respect in a matter of minutes. He's what the left wing SHOULD be! I admire how he refuses to support tyrants like Castro, Stalin and Mao and fights against the idiots who do, like dickhead george galloway and the radical commies of the old-left wing. His support for atheism and gay rights is pretty awesome as well. the left needs more people like him...

  • Strange that people are chanting “Allah Akbar” when Mohammed married a 9 year old and Ayatolla Khomenei reduced the marriageable age of girls in Iran from 16 to 9. Incidentally, Khomenei described sex with children as “ a divine blessing.” Paedophilia has a institutionalised history in Islam.

  • @AntiFascist2011 Please show me where the Bible condemns child abuse.

  • @mikelheron20 Marcial Maciel. Isn't he the guy that admitted he never even believed in God but only joined the church to get near kids? Regardless of the behaviour of criminals who infiltrated the church, the Bible condemns child abuse. Its like having a group called the anti-pedophiles set up children's schools and homes in order to protect kids from pedos. What do the pedos do? They join the anti-pedophile group in order to get at the kids.

  • @mikelheron20

...or suspicion of crimes from police. It instead emphasizes the church’s right to handle all child-abuse allegations and determine punishments in house rather than give that power to civil authorities.

Perhaps there was a cover up, I don't know. They currently have a zero tolerence policy and many priests are in prision.

If the Pope used poor judgement as they claim Joe Paterno did, do you think he should be in prision? Will things get better if he was put in prison?

  • @mikelheron20

...The newly revealed letter, obtained by Irish broadcasters RTE and provided to The Associated Press, documents the Vatican’s rejection of a 1996 Irish church initiative to begin helping police identify pedophile priests following Ireland’s first wave of publicly disclosed lawsuits.

The letter undermines persistent Vatican claims, particularly when seeking to defend itself in U.S. lawsuits, that Rome never instructed local bishops to withhold evidence ...

  • @mikelheron20

Additional searches on google tell additional stories. Are you only interested in the ones that condemn the CC?

DUBLIN – A 1997 letter from the Vatican warned Ireland’s Catholic bishops not to report all suspected child-abuse cases to police — a disclosure that victims’ groups described as “the smoking gun” needed to show that the church enforced a worldwide culture of covering up crimes by pedophile priests...

  • @mikelheron20

The church today has issued a zero tolerance policy as have many other Protestant denominations. I think it is very biased to focus on the CC only when this problem is global in all religions and government agencies.

If the church has a zero tolerance policy today, why do you continue to open old wounds? What are you trying to accomplish?

"Please don't reply to this with some uninformed response based on blind loyalty and sheer prejudice. Inform yourself first - it's very easy."

You think I am not aware of it? What is your point of telling me about it? Do you think I am not angry about it?

I don't have all of the facts and I am not going to lash out in anger with limited facts. I know the Pope is a human and can sin. I prefer to pray instead of lash out in anger. Nothing gets accomplished by being angry.

  • @MrChristianBeliever I have just Googled the following "Marcial Maciel" "Ratzinger child sex abuse" "Pedophile priests cover up" "Legionaries of Christ". Any of these and more will take you in a few seconds to article upon article (all fully-referenced) exposing the role of Ratzinger and Pope John Paul II in covering up child rape. Please don't reply to this with some uninformed response based on blind loyalty and sheer prejudice. Inform yourself first - it's very easy.

  • @JohannHari1

"Can you think of anything more Catholic than bringing that man to justice?"

Yes, I can. Don't spread hate based on opinions of others. Obtain the real facts and post the references for others to see for themselves. You take the opinions of so called "good Catholics" and tell us to google them for the facts. Please, provide real evidence, not subjective statements saying that the Pope didn't care about children.

  • @JohannHari1

"We can go on google to find documents leaked by good Catholics"

Really? That is not much of a reference you have given.. Sounds like a hate speach person to me with nothing but conjecture and subjectivity at its finest.
