Setting up multiple dishes or placing a lot of LNBs on a single dish can be a hassle. One method of receiving the most satellites at the smallest cost is to purchase a satellite motor. Motors automatically position your dish to receive a maximum signal on the satellite you want to receive and in many case they can receive a good portion of the entire arc. Motors are fairly inexpensive and are easy to set up. In this video I describe in detail the set-up and use of a Ku motor.

  • can you upload more satellite videos? cause all i can find is 30 sec videos of people turning the dish and other satellite videos like yours are spanish, mexican, pakistani or even the people are too shy HELP

  • @semco72057 I have the KBox prodigy. It's not a bad unit; scans satellites fast and software updates through the USB port on the front work well. In addition the receiver has blind scan. If you can find one for about $100 then go for it.

  • @christopherve7alb The Fortec Mercury II which I have is the problem with my system now. That is why I am going to get a new receiver. I have heard some about the KBox, but wanted to be sure before buying another unit.

  • @semco72057 RS232 can be a pain in the neck. If you're looking at getting a new receiver I'd recommend an AZbox, KBox, or a Fortec Star. Also try setting your motor up as Diseqc 1.2 rather than USALS I find it works well for me.

  • @christopherve7alb I am still having problems with the receiver and can't upload the updated software since I don't have a computer with the R232 plug on them like the receiver has. I think that I will get a new receiver with a USB connection on it, and one which is supported by the company selling it.

  • @semco72057 Weird is it working now though?

  • @christopherve7alb I am using USALS as the setting. I had a problem with this receiver previously when one day all went blank on my TV screen and the receiver finally worked again after two days. It only would give you channel numbers and not channels, then I cleared all the channels again it now gives me the channel names like it did at first.

  • @semco72057 Are you using USALS or Diseqc 1.2?

  • @christopherve7alb I checked the settings on the receiver and for each of the satellites in memory they are all set at W=0; N=0. How do I find the settings for those satellites so the motor will aim correctly. I also checked the motor prior to checking the receiver settings and it seem to be working fine.

  • Yes but does it move when your receiver is communicating with it? The best way to tell is aim at your farthest east satellite, look @ the dish then tell the receiver to go to the farthest west and look at the dish to see if its moved.
