A new study suggests that web addicts have brain changes similar to those hooked on drugs and alcohol.

A group of researchers in China say they have found disruption in the brain of those who use internet excessively. Specialized MRI scans showed changes in the white matter of the brain of the Web addicts under the study.
The researchers say brain regions involving emotional generation and processing, executive attention, decision making and cognitive control were seen affected. Similar results have been found in those addicted to video games. Experts say the discovery could lead to new treatments for addictive behavior.
