Usually you would find a sizeable group of older, balding fans who are also quite muscular, still going crazy at 242 shows. Let's hope both the band and audience feel "young" enough to continue doing what they do best.
Sorry, but not planning to splash any beer on stage (what a waste!) or inflict any eye gouging on anyone in the crowd: :-)
I am curious to know what you did at the Midnight Oil concert!
Because of my age, I didn't see any wave or EBM bands in the 80s or early 90s but I have plenty of friends who tell me that everyone was much more intense back then. Just check out Nitzer Ebb's Violent Playground video on youtube filmed somewhere in 1989. So much happening!
I've seen Front in several European countries and I'd say the crowd moves most in Germany and Belgium.
or industrial concert. Front live is pure energy but not as aggressive as let's say Slayer or Madball. And that's fine. The music is different anyways. Even if I get a chance, I wouldn't stagedive or crowdsurf as often as if I were at a death metal concert. But from time to time, why not? And again, from what I understand, 242 doesn't mind as long as you don't act as a total clown.
So far, I didn't end up in hospital after any concert but I've had my fair share of bruises, nosebleeds, chipped teeth and the occasional black eye. And still no need for a chiropractor or fearing that I sound like Mr Ali - or so I hope!
I'm definitely not calling for Front 242 gigs to be violent or anything. I just thoroughly enjoy the physical aspect of a 242 gig. Slamming or moshing (In Europe, many people still call it "pogo") can be great fun and in my case enhances my concert experience.
When you go, by all means, please take the time to possibly splash some beer or other slippery liquid substance onstage whilst Richard is dancing. :P
Or for that matter, take the opportunity to locate somebody in the crowd who is in dire need of a nice eye gouging while they slamdance in the pit, and whence you've done so and the newfound recipient of said eyegouging is standing there with watery eyes, tell them that it was courtesy of a guy in the USA by the name of trollcrusher242."
No longer do I see an expression of angst or vigor in doing so, but now is see a string of medical bills for chiropractic spinal adjustments, dental bills (for chipped teeth), possible cosmetic surgery (potential broken nose, eye gouges ... oof, been there and done that on the eye gouging experience ... not fun to be a recipient of that), etc. etc. etc. You get the idea. ;-)
I do hope that you enjoy the forthcoming F242 gigs.
In closing here, yes the individual with the YouTube user name of "richard232323" IS indeed THE Richard 23 of Front 242 fame. Yep.
I do thank you kindly for the gig invite, but sadly, I am here in the USA. Where I currently reside, well, they don't host gigs that appeal to my particular flavour of music. No Industrial / EBM / etc. Nada. :-(
Soooo ... I have to make do with the Internet for new music and whatnot. Plus, I don't think that my body could take anymore punishment from

And I totally understand if other concertgoers would rather not participate. One doesn't exclude the other.
Of course you always have assholes who think the pit is a boxing ring and they try to physically hurt people. That's not my style.
From the moment I hear the beats at a 242 concert, the adrenaline gets to me and I feel I need to move -body to body! But no one ought to get hurt.
I also go to a lot of metal- and hardcore concerts but I definitely understand it's not the same as an EBM
