I want to thank maxximoo for inspiring this upload after he put up his excellent full-length Henry Fonda recording, with his video mixed with the existing soundboard.

Notes: The "washed out in white" brightness issues with this video have been (somewhat) fixed, and the audio has been replaced with lido's (possibly soundboard) recording available on archive.org. There are some spots where he made cuts in his recording, so the audio "falls back" on the camera audio, but that's only between songs. Also, for whatever reason lido's recording didn't pick up Robin Peringer's drumming, so when he joins Elliott on a few songs, it will look like he's air drumming.

i have a feeling elliott got really fucking tired of hearing the i love yous when he performed those last few years...

@Cincinnatianer maybe 02 and prior, but i would say his last year he interacted with the audience and probably had a better relationship with them more than at any other time in his life. In 2003 in general, he had to lean on his fans as a man on the comeback trail, recovering from 2-3 years of hell, and it was awesome to see how much faith and support there was for him in getting better.

Awesomest crowd-discourse moment is at 23 min & 17 secs. where some idiot says to Elliott:

"You're fuckin' wasted, bro'", to which Elliott responds, "Well... we're kinda in the same boat". Then, without missing a beat, he launches right into his next song - The Enemy Is You. hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

He was the epitome of Cool. Damn shame he's gone.

I was at this show - he was awesome but clearly wasted. It was weird because this show was canceled a few months (weeks?) earlier because he was "ill". It's crazy to re-experience this through YouTube 8 years later.

So someone uploaded this entire Elliott Smith gig at Belly Up Tavern, May 22, 2003. OH! IT BURNS A HOLE IN MY HEART. I WAS THERE with "Somebody that I used to know." (how fitting, right!?) I can't believe the ENTIRE concert is up! Oh dear. Mixed feelings. Joy. Sad. Happy. Nostalgia.
