Silver is silver. It always has value, unlike FRN's or anything that is controlled by a private bank, especially ones practicing fractional reserve banking. I'm not sure there are many instances where people would rather take an IOU (federal Reserve Note) than something with REAL value.

I totally support alternative currencies but be careful, norfed got raided for doing exactly the same thing. Although it seems they weren't actually breaking any laws.

It should be really easy to tell if something isnt 100% silver, because it won't displace the same volume of water. I actually think that they should print instructions to test its density on the back.

If you start making one ounce Gold pieces with Rand or Thoreau's face on them, and one ounce Silver with Spooner's face on them, I'll move to NH. "Spooner" even sounds like currency. :D

whoa whoa whoa - Though us "yanks" primarily use the english(lol) system we also have all of our products labeled in metric by law. Even our military uses/memorizes both systems. Just in the US we use english primarily and also don't arrest our citizen for using a foreign system(as the UK does)

I now have the latest silver prices available on my phone for ease of conversion to FRNs.

Making coins is not illegal provided you are not trying to pass it off as legal tender. Think of them as medallions, jewellery, or trinkets. Selling coins without paying taxes may be "illegal".

could it be? did i hear it right that Americans will catch up with the rest of the world and adopt the metric system by using grams. wow impressive
are you show you yanks won't be confused with the metric system of conversions ? haha just kidding

I know! This is ideal, and so simple! I love that's it is simply a measure of weight of silver of certain purity. That's all we need!
i kind of like the idea of a nickel bullion; it would not be expensive enough to be worth faking the metal. this might work with copper too, the liberty dollar people had some success with copper but I don't know what their status is exactly.
