One of the most poignant, beautiful and intricate parts of the piece, although I wish it included the part right before that with the piles of combustive chemical dust that turn different colors.
This film was done in 1987 by artists Peter Fischli & David Weiss. The original length is about 30 minutes. I saw it in an art school class the 1st time about 1990 and later on public TV. You can buy a DVD for $20.
Haha, I was being sarcastic! I remember the Honda ad too, at least they tied it in with the tagline: "isn't it nice when things just work." Yeah I thought there was more to it. I saw it at a museum, forget which one... But does this pre-date Mouse Trap???
I love the OK GO video, but just letting you know that they ripped this off. As did honda a few years back in a tv ad. the full length of this video is about 15 minutes long and its brilliant. props to F&W and also to OK GO.
This almost made me cry with pleasure. It is so brilliant!

No. Mouse Trap was from the 1960s. This video is from the late 1980s. All are based on drawings by Rube Goldberg from the 1920s and '30s.
