Douglas Carswell MP, Sandro Gozi (an Italian opposition Europe spokesman) and Professor Petar Bofinger (a german economist) discuss the latest crisis in Europe. Sandro Gozi is a frightening politician who can only see a headlong charge into full european integration involving fiscal union, tax harmonisation and the rest of it as the solution. He says that we need to tell the people the truth that "National politics has become a fiction" in order to justify entering this federal nightmare. Well I agree with the first part but as a justification for EU withdrawal. These europhile elites never see the alternative, nor do they offer it - for that would mean giving the people a choice.

If you have an erros like the EU which is failing and causing failure, poverty and unhappyness what obviously need to be done is increment on that error and go towards full integration

The single market is not worth all this pain. We can open up free trade deals like we do the rest of the world. The Eurozone is worth 10% of British trade. We are allowing a corrupt manky tail to wag the dog.

Gozi's notion of truth is deranged; immigration, climate change and economic crisis can only be managed at a national level. Or one can argue that at an eu level these things can be managed but then one has to ask the question: what is the point? What is the point of the eu?
