Stewart * Bowser model locomotives are a great starting point for creating a realistic locomotive. Rainy added many details to this model including brake and air hoses, coupler release levers, lift rings on the body and decals for the number boards and loco road number. The model was also weathered and the handrails and step edges were painted white.

A Soundtraxx decoder was installed. The speaker is located in the fuel tank area in a cavity created with a milling machine.

Electrical pickup was enhanced by adding additional wheel contact to the third axle of each truck which was hare wired to the main contact lead. Rainy ordered additional contacts from Bowser and cut the contact to serve one wheel on each side of the truck. Photos of the modification will be posted to the web site.

This is the first test run after re-assembling the locomotive. The sound has been improved and performance enhanced be reducing the sound interruption due to dirty or uneven track. The older sound decoders didn't have a capacitor to minimize sound interruption like the newer sound technology decoders.

This older Soundtraxx decoder has that lumbering sound quality.....like the engine is about to quit. That makes it a favorite of Rainy.
