Practice and qualifying at Charlotte prior to a race. Yes, those are Formula Atlantic (FA) race cars grouped with the Formula Vees (FV). Bill McCaw, driver of the FV with the video camera, is now retired and living with his Chinese wife, Yuan Tianqiong, in Chengdu, China. He has continued satisfying his need for speed by joining iRacing.com and will compete in a league race in a few days, driving the Spec Racer Ford (SRF) at this same track.
I just wanted to add that I saw Bill get a little dusty exiting the horse shoe turn himself...guess it still gets slippery out there near the edge. We adopted a beautiful daughter from China in 2006. She's in first grade and speaks with a distinct southern American twang. She's from the Jiangxi Province.

Thanks for posting. Back around 1981 I had a FV...an early 70s car. Enjoyed a couple autocrosses at CMS. On exit of road course you turn right and drive down front straight dogleg section ....a slalom there, then a hard right back down pit road to timing light. On the road course section the pylon gates were mostly dead on the on the apex-racing line, so you could flat out fly. Took a spinning off road excursion once exiting the horse shoe turn.
