  • Beautiful footage! What camera did you use for that? Big zoom and great slow motion - that's about the best captured footage I've seen of Mavs from land!

  • thanks. I was just using a consumer grade canon vixia hard drive camera. It has a decent zoom but it's all about keeping it steady.

  • thanks for the comments. I was sitting on the hillside using my tripod as a mono pod with the one leg stuck into the ground to steady the shot. What a beautiful day!

  • My girlfriends and I want to drive up to see this year's contest, but I'm reading articles that they will be closing it to spectators, and that the only way to see it is somewhere else on a large screen or at just at home via webcams. Can anyone verify this will absolutely be the case or can you recommend another decent viewpoint (besides the $200 tour boats)?

  • Respect for the dudes out there conquering that stuff.

  • f*** THAT THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL I'D EVER GO OUT THERE! THESE GUYS ARE NUTS HOW DID THEY NOT DIE!

  • Oh my God!!!!! So beautiful and dangerous at the same time!!!! Very big. I don't know if you've heard something about it, but a famous hawaiian surfer died surfing these waves!!! It was Mark Foo.
