We forget what a great figure she had and how well she wore clothes. No one like her before or since and since her death she has lost none of her fame or stature!
Before 'There's no business like show business' this was her signature tune.
Ethel was a jewel of Broadway and not Hollywood. Because of this, her legacy in stage is scarcely covered by her films. She was an enormous star in the heyday of the Great White Way.
I like the costumes and choreography in the TV version. Also the sound technology was better than the film version. I'm sure the best sound was on the theatre stage. Both Merman and Roth had great voices.
I love this one! Glory be to Ethel Merman! X
