wow ..people give the 60's movie so much crap ... but even from this short clip .. the machine looks very similar to what i saw in 2002. The plot seems pretty much the same.

This is by far the best film version. I didn't much care for the 2002 version. I'd love to see another attempt at it, but this time without deviating from the novel at all.

i think we ALREADY have his vision of the future.
a "eugenic" elite rules over a "dysgenic" cattle-masses.

we need Eugenics to escape it.

For a Hollywood movie, the Rod Taylor version is ok; however, in the novel, both the Morlocks and Eloi are much cooler. Also, Weena gets eaten. At the end, the Time Traveler just disappears; nobody knows where he went. The novel ends with these words: "And I have by me, for my comfort, two strange white flowers--shriveleld now, and brown and flat and brittle--to witness that even when mind and strength had gone, gratitude and a mutual tenderness still lived on in the heart of man."

back in the 60s when i was just a kid, I ordered the book, the time machine, because i thought that it was an instruction manual on how to build a machine that travels in time. I read the book and nevertheless I liked it. Just recently I purchased the classic illustrated No.133 THE TIME MACHINE, both the 1960 and 2002 movies. Time Travel is an emotional thing to think about. Today I subscribe to buddhist thinking that time is an side affect of thought.
