I finished the book in two sittings this week, then watched the film. Spectacular book, slightly amusing movie. I'm sure it's a good film to anybody who (a) saw it before they were about 14 years old or (b) saw it before they read the book. But really... it's a classic example of cinema failing to encapsulate a novel.

Yeh, I get it , maybe the Morlocks are like the priests who have taken to cannibalizing the Eloi instead of just making do with a tithe offering. Maybe that is a warning to what will happen if you only put 20p in the offering plate; they'll turn on you :-} just kidding. The Eloi were named like that for you to think. They were not simplistic, they were so evolutioned, civilized and sophisticated that they eventually became lazy, illiterate, careless and numb. Everything was apparently given to them without effort, just as if they were living in Paradise, in The Garden of Eden, but in fact they were slaves of their religion, slaves of their fears, slaves of their perception of reality, slaves of themselves.
