  • What these students somehow neglected to state is that if federal funding for graduate medical education disappears, then residency positions will likely close and/or the cost of years of residency training will fall on the shoulders of students, many of whom leave medical school with already hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt. (If this scenario isn’t a motivation for medical students—and patients (i.e., everybody) to call or write their congressional representatives, I don’t what is.)
