Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift - No Hiring Generics No Bazaar No Auctions No Items

Fourth and fifth Cinquleur battles, and the last ones because I'm only fighting them for the equipment.

First we fight the overlevelled Black Mage Moogle. He absorbs all three basic elements, casts -aga spells and can toad our guys. He also has Reflex, meaning normal physicals won't hurt him.

As you can see, I've been doing some sidequests - Frimelda is already in the party and Adelle already knows some Heritor skills. I can't do anything with Frimelda here however, only tank.

Frimelda... isn't that good. Paladin equipment is overpowered in this challenge so we want her to stay as Paladin forever. We lack another Soldier weapon to switch back to Paladin. This means that she gets no offensive a-abilities or Counter. Counter would be especially great; come on, who doesn't like counterattacking twice? Makes it look like you're the one attacking not being attacked.

-aga spells can be deadly here, especially if targeting multiple people at once. Good thing the moogle can only allow himself to cast his magic once every 2-3 turns, and his physicals aren't terribly dangerous. I finished him by exploding with Luso, and I think I could've done it earlier - the blue magick does good damage. The other blue magicks are worthless due to the magic defence of the enemy.

White Mage King can be tricky. He's got Blood Price, which is totally cheating seeing how he's not a Viera, and I'm pretty sure he can restore himself to full health any time (iirc). His Sage skillset gives him many deadly offensive opportunities when my people are either standing in one line or within the range of a spell.

Probably should've blown Luso up before he had to die so quickly, but it was over quickly.

  • quick question... there are three quests to get Frimelda, right? 2nd, do you need to do them all in a row? and 3rd, is he worth getting?

  • Definitely more. 5-6, I think. All done in a row and you need to be progressively further in the game's storyline to get to the last one, meaning you can only get her endgame.

Frimelda starts as a Paladin and therefore has Paladin stats. If Paladin stats don't match your personal view of perfect Human stats, she is inferior to a generic Human unit. But she starts with Double Sword already learnt, has a unique sprite and looks cute. You decide.

  • Thanks. Double Sword already learnt is awesome! Thanks for telling me that the all come endgame. I messed up one of my files with that. But my second file is still in the early stages. Thank you again.

  • Oh, and by "in a row" I did mean that they're in specific order. You can take a break, save and do other missions or anything else in between. You actually need to go out of your way to trigger each part.

  • Black King first? This game is clearly racist.

  • does anyone know how to get counter foe viera or nu mou

  • @BiasedGuy123

I know. In this challenge, Luso and Frimelda had no access to active abilities so they acted as bait instead.

  • @MoogleBoss Relfex doesn't count against abilities. I taught Frimelda Holy blade, and I had Luso as a Soldier with Warrior abilities. Using Rend Magic on the Kings is helpful.

  • If you work on Frimelda, she can be one of the best sword-users you can get. Personally, I didn't call her a blade master until her secondary ability was set to Flair(Parivir). How could you be a swordmaster without being a Parivir?! It's also good to get a Parivir and teach him Archer abilities. A swordmaster that hardly ever misses is the way to go.

  • Oh! Thanks. I guess i didn't f it up.

  • i tough so to in the begginng until i saw him using a gun.
