I think that the straight forward tact is actually funnier. Anyone can sing a funny song in a funny way. Barrowman playing it straight is a drier, wittier way. It reminds me of an old Irish ballad - a pretty melody with very morose lyrics.

OMG... JB has a wonderful voice...but this song should be a little faster and campier...Cole Porter had a wicked sense of humor.

yes johnny boy is a great singer with great diction et al B U T you cannot deny the fact that miss divine's version is so much better and way fun!!

I love Bette's .. but this is really nice.. Very well interpreted.. I'd definitely listen again.

I like his version. It's completely straightforward and he has a good voice. He also has great diction - every word is as clear as a bell -because JB is an actor and knows that words matter. All the famous versions are interpretations - especially Midler's. John made the very smart decision to sing it straight. He doesn't take liberties with the words, the story, the music, the tempo.
I.e. he doesn't take liberties with Cole Porter. How smart is that?

This is the first time I've heard John Barrowman sing.He has the talent and a beautiful voice. I'm thankful I finally got to listen to him.
