Music played through water produces shapes and patterns.
Cymatics (from Greek: κῦμα "wave") is the study of visible sound and vibration, a subset of modal phenomena. Typically the surface of a plate, diaphragm, or membrane is vibrated, and regions of maximum and minimum displacement are made visible in a thin coating of particles, paste, or liquid. Different patterns emerge in the excitatory medium depending on the geometry of the plate and the driving frequency.
My name is Jessie Edsall. I am an American artist experimenting with sound and cymatic sound visualization as an art form. I use my own custom-made equipment to produce fascinating images and mesmerizing videos from popular music, natural sounds and random frequencies. I also provide live cymatic visualizations for musicians and bands, compose my own music and paint.
