Grandmaster Guru Anthony Davis demonstrates in this footage one of the basic 'Davis/Cabales Serrada System of Escrima' empty-hand evasive maneuvers. GM Davis instructs this seminar participant to strike at him unknowingly.

GM Davis knows that the Black Belt student will strike with his right-hand first; However! out of nowhere, the student fires off a left-hand strike to GM Davis' facial area intending to hit him for real. GM Davis flawlessly evades the unexpected strike by shifting his entire body to his rightside. In this new position GM Davis can counterattack his opponent at will.

The essence of Serrada Escrima relies upon quick last minute reactions. When one has mastered this level of attainment, one is said to have reached a superior level known as "Presence of Mind".
