I had a chance to play a favorite Skynyrd song with the man who wrote it! Thanks, Ed for slowing it down so I could learn Leon's part and turning into a really cool, bluesy version. Guitar- Ed King, V

  • Ed King - Skynyrd just wasn't the same after he left. No disrespect to Steve Gaines, he brought something different to the table. Ed's swing-style of play is truly unique and defined a lot of what Lynyrd Skynrd is.

  • It is so wonderful to see someone on here who can actually sing well - Nice job! Thanks for doing it justice. Also, Ed King is not only a top flight pro as a player, but his bigger contribution to the music world is his massive talent for song writing & arranging. It was Ed who brought his knowledge & skills to Skynyrd, and got the early material formatted, arranged & orchestrated into a commercially acceptable structure, without Ed King we may never have heard Skynyrd's music. - Thanks Ed King!

  • @bowslap To add to my comment...each member of the original Lynyrd Skynyrd band brought something to the table. To me, the 2 that really stands out is 1) Obviously, Ronnie Van Zant...he was the heart/soul of that band. Without Ronnie, it just ISN'T LS

    2) Ed King's playing was so crucial to that music....his Strat and ability was the perfect counter-point to Allen and Gary. Wasn't the same after he left in the 70's, and when he was ousted in the 1990's.

  • @sfslickdawg OHh no doubt, ronnie spotted eds talent,

no questions listen to the 1987 sweet home and the 1987

workin for the live the leads are unreal, his tone

is twice as unreal, his playing i describe like

syrup. Sticky and sweet also it flows off key

and off time, a BORN all time great, Ed

    is the best there is,

  • Thanks Ed King.

  • dude's singing needs some tuning...... but it's ok.

  • Well....in all actuality, Billy Powell penned this tune(*only songwriting credit the man ever had in his career w/ Skynyrd). as far as the guitar playing goes, I'll give Ed all the credit in the world...that wa definitely him.

  • Excelent!!

  • @HuntsAnnexStudios How few RED NECKS know this.. Notice anything in this one number, he adjust his tone and volume 4 times,

he is LISTENING, something so few players know how to do,

GIVE THE MUSIC time to BREATH,

  • @HuntsAnnexStudios How few RED NECKS know this..

  • did a good job

  • I love Ed's guitar playing.I'm old enough to remember Incense And Pepermints.

I'd love to meet the guy.
