In the mid 1990's, weekly at noon on Sundays, this disclaimer doubled as the opening title for airings by Chicago public TV station WTTW of selected episodes of the series "America's Defense Monitor", a moderate pacifist program, and "We Do the Work", a labor series. The "Viewpoint" series was the result of pressure applied by the Coalition for Democracy in Public TV (CDPTV), which later sometimes was referred to as Democracy in Public Broadcasting. Scott Sanders was the elected representative of the 24-group coalition in its dealings with WTTW. And, yes, the voice you hear is the famed channel 11 and WFMT announcer, Marty Robinson.
If you wanted to catch Charleyne Hunter-Gault's human rights program "Right's and Wrongs" on WTTW you had to wake up at 7:30AM I think it was on Saturdays! Sorry Danny and Rory - as we discussed, that's the best slot WTTW could muster! What a shame!
