1974 VW Bug / Bradley GT body with 2000 YZFR1 1000cc Motorcycle engine made to fit, custom made shaft to connect the bike engine to the VW transaxle. By the way, DO NOT hook up car battery as shown to run R1 engine, very shortly after this clip was taken, the wiring to the regulator/rectifier started melting and burned out the $100.00 regulator. Use correct battery to the bike.

  • what material did you use to make the driveshaft? Did you use the original sprocket and weld it on or did you cut the splines in to your driveshaft. Im doing a hayabusa conversion now, cant find anyone that can make a 1 piece driveshaft, so i gues ii gotta make it like you did, any info is much appreciated!

  • @snappy2111 Your'e on the right track..........you'll figure it out

  • so i was thinking of doing this to a 1980's vw rabbit. what mods do i have to do? could i just literaly swap engines? the standard engine is bigger than the r1 so would i just have to make the correct mounts for the engine?

  • @domiNATEshots12 Rabbit is totally dif., but I'm sure it could be done somehow

  • Why?

  • @teslaphysics Well Nicola, because it's cool too me. P.S. Love your AC Power, use it everyday.

  • Hi

what are you using for shifting, the bike gearbox or the bug gearbox?

  • Ok, so you have used the VW differential and the bike gearbox?

  • how did you get reverse set up on this vw/ r1 project?

  • I take it you strengthened the drive-shaft to cope with the additional power? also is the project done?

  • would love to get more info on how u mated the 2!!! is there a build on this on any site?

  • @teslaphysics sorry, one "sound" please!
