The Greenwich Clock tower_clock hands where time began

When i was 20 i got a temperary job with a firm of neon sign erectors. One day their job was to replace the broken neon strips on the minute and hour hands of the clocks on the tower. I was just a labourer. I carried tools, moved ladders and did the 'bum' jobs the 'skilled workers' i worked alongside didnt want to do. One day we were called to this tower to replace broken neon tubes. This was in the 60's. We drove from north london and on the way the 'bosses' told me i would have to go down in the bosan's chair to fix the strips on the hands. It seemed quite a challenge and instead of 'wetting myself' with fear as they hoped, I agreed to do it. As they let me down on ropes to the hands i was quite terrified. But i did manage to do one 'face'. This tower used to be where Greenwich Borough Council had their offices.
