  • Hi Doc. I was just told that I have spondoloesthesis. My L5 is about a quarter inch forward of where it should be I am having the pain of a pinched nerve, shooting down through my leg. What should I do? Is surgery common for those with this? I am only 28, and I've had maybe 6 or 7 pinched nerves in this area in my life. I thought back pain was just a normal thing since I am so tall, 6'1". Thanks! *michelle.

  • Hello Dr. Corenman,

I am a tennis player, and I was diagnosed with a unilateral healing pars fracture at L5. My doctor said that I don't need a brace because my left side is holding everything in place and my muscles would atrophy, and I wasn't in much pain at time of appointment(2 weeks after I stopped playing.) Do you think my left side could break with daily living? I am not doing anything besides physical therapy. And do you think it will heal bone to bone if CT showed healing?

  • Hello Dr. Corenman,

I have a few questions for you.

I am a tennis player and two months ago I was diagnosed with a unilateral right sided pars fracture of L5. The CT scan showed that the fracture was healing. The doctor that I am seeing said that I do not need a brace because I wasn't at any pain at the time that I saw him(my fracture happened a couple of weeks before I saw him). I have n't played tennis since Feb.4 and I do not have any pain with extension or any other movements.
